1984 - George Orwell, Erich Fromm I read this a few times in high school and college -- only once because I was required to. It's probably been 15 years since I last picked it up, but it's always stuck with me. I think this book may have helped form my nascent sense of societal right and wrong and individual rights as an adolescent, and my conviction that it's important to fight even when that seems futile.
