Fatherland - Robert Harris I read this a long time ago, but it's stuck with me as one of the better alternative history novels I've encountered. It's a well-constructed detective story that works with interesting themes about how people look the other way rather than acknowledge evil things are happening. It's a punch in the gut when the main character has to confront the atrocities committed by the Nazi regime and his own unwitting role in them.
