There it was, a mildly battered hardcover at the grocery store in the midst of a cardboard box full of discounted romance novels and get-rich-quick books. It was at the top near the edge like it had been trying to escape. I couldn't bear to leave it there, so I brought it home where it will have better company. I may even read it someday.
